A Tribute To Forest Tilley
Champion Of Sustainable Forestry

Redwoord Forest Foundation Tribute To Forest Tilley

RFFI and the Usal Redwood Forest Company created this memorial to Forest after we lost this champion of sustainable forestry on April 2, 2017. Forest had supported RFFI since its earliest days. He and his devoted wife, Pat, a community leader in her own right, were ongoing and generous RFFI donors.

Born in San Francisco, Forest lived much of his life in Mendocino County. Like his father and grandfather, he became a forester and devoted his career to carrying forth their commitment to community-driven, sustainable forestry. Forest was the manager of Jackson Demonstration State Forest, the largest state forest in California, where he focused on active forest management, research, demonstration of good forest practices, and public recreation. It was his hope that with good, sustained management, Usal would operate as a healthy working community forest. Now, Forestís redwoods will be a part of that legacy.
